The Definitive List of Self-hosted Stuff

This is the first post in a new category called Resources, where we will be posting about things to make your big-tech-independent life a bit easier. These aren’t really reviews of software, so they didn’t really belong there.

With millions of apps and services you could check out, it’s hard to know where to begin. Here at BigBadTech, we like to cheat a little bit and use the Awesome-Selfhosted page when we start looking for alternatives in particular categories. For example, if you want some good notetaking software to replace Microsoft OneNote, you could search online for hours and find a handful of things – digging through their product pages to see if you can host them yourself. Or, you could skip all of that and just go to the notetaking section of Awesome-Selfhosted. It’s really that simple.

Categories include everything from Office Suites and Password Managers to Games to even Genealogy tools.

Many of these services have some image implementation up on Docker Hub so you can get going in a few minutes.
